FOREX Resources for Newbies

Postby djsheckie on 28 Aug 2008

Just thought I'd share a few information and training sites other than eToro that are helping me make sense of the FOREX world.

School of Pipsology - http://www.babypips.com/school/ - This site breaks the fundamentals of FOREX down into grades. So you can start with the easier concepts and work you way up to more advanced concepts. I'm only in elementary school so far but at least I know know that pips aren't just fruit seeds, or Gladys Knight's back-up singers.

http://www.investopedia.com/university/forexmarket/- Investopedia has a wealth of free tutorials which also cover the basics of trading FOREX. Not quite as simple or funny as Pipsology but still good nonetheless.

http://www.tradingeducators.com/ - I downloaded a free e-book about the Law of Charts. The goal of this e-book is to teach you certain common patterns in charts signaling uptrends, downtrends, etc. I only just got it and haven't finished it but it's free and seems like it might be worthwhile. I can't vouch for the other paid e-books but suspect that newbies can learn plenty for free without $150 e-books.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Would like to seek your opinion and kind advice on a forex software called <Forex Autopilot>, the web page is : http://sem46.forexrobot.hop.clickbank.net/.

1. Generally, is this software helps ?
2. As newbies, can we let this Robot trade for us at the begining ?

Best Regards

Djsheckie gives an excellent set of resources for newcomers to the forex world. When I started my forex ‘career’ my first impression was that forex was so logical that it would be easy! Hee-hee - well, then I started to educate myself by googling ‘forex’ and reading whatever popped up. My original state of ignorant bliss soon evolved into a state of utter overwhelmed confusion.

I realised that I had, after four or five months’ work, gathered together about 100 pieces of a 10,000 piece jigsaw and, worse, that I had managed to place none of them in context.

My mistake was to cast the proverbial net too wide. So, I settled down to work through the School of Pipsology course at BabyPips (link on djsheckies post) and to familiarise myself more with the eToro Platform.

I shall take a look at the two other links that djsheckie recommends.

Finally, to cfwan2008 - with all the reading around that I’ve done I would say that most people would advise you not to buy a robot. Why are people selling such ‘aids’ ? - probably because they can’t be bothered to learn about forex. You can be sure that whilst they make money selling you an automated robot, you are unlikely to make money using it.

From what I understand a good signal service would be better - there are a few out there. I don’t know enough to recommend any. But a good free signal service, in conjunction with a good free training course (like on Baby Pips) is the way to start. You should not have to pay for anything at this stage.

At the same time, open your Practice account with eToro - don’t trade with real money until you know what you are doing. I’m still only using my practice account after 7 months....
