Problem at closing a position - Anyone else?

Postby sachin34 on 14 May 2008

Hi,
I was beginning to like etoro and has invested a good sum on it as well. However I occasionally get these problems.
1. When I try to close a position when the price is right.. the application waits till I have either a less profit or sometimes a loss.

2. This also happens when I try to buy or sell when I find the correct price. It waits till, I buy it either at a high price or at a lower profit sale .

I am on a fast broadband connection with highly optimised PC. I am also trading on other platforms as well, where the tradings are corectly done at the click of a button.
Hence I assume the problem is with the apllication.
Has anybody else noted this problem?
Please share your thoughts
Thanks

I noticed that problem a couple of times as well. At other times it has executed the order immediately. The more I use this platform the more problems arise. I can't count how many times the charting data has failed now, very annoying, maybe time to look for another platform?

I have the same problem as well! With closing and also with opening a position.I use another charting software as it seems that eToro^s is not being updated acording to the rates displayed on their own platform. Each time I plan to place an order, I have that chart in "Tick" time scale view.So I could noticed that:
At any time, the rates displayed in the chart ,differ from those displayed on eToro^s loby, some times with up to seven pips!
A few times, while placing an order, (just short after I press the "OK" button) eToro^s bid/ask rates move against me, even as that move is not present in my other charting software. The order is being than executer at that rate!
A few times a stop loss order was executed after a sudden, short time move in that direction, move that never appeared in the other chart. At one time that move was of five pips!
Several times I could not close an open position to wich I had a profit! The standard error message kept poping up!
More over I had the platform crashed three times in less the 4 hours time!Just simply closes without warning!
In two ocasions I could not see my open positions in the eToro^s lobby after I logged on. I had to log off and on again to see them. Once hapened in real mode and in once in fun mode!
Once, while in real time mode there was no "Fun Trade On Virtual Money" button displayed, wich is not a a huge tragedy after all!
So overal, I invested a small amount of money to find out that:
-basically is ok as everything is covered in the Terms of Service we all agree with before we start!
-there is a significant difference in functionality between fun trade and real trade mode. In real trade mode the platform/broker may work against you at times!
- while is a god place to learn the basics, for real money trading one should look elsewhere!

Same problems -but this is a great place to learn - fun even.

I only invested 100 euros to trade for real - I have lost about half of that. Back to Trade for Fun for me.

Well, I have now lost a considerable amount of money, due to the faulty etoro application. I have emailed support twice with screen grabs, but they failed to respond.

I am now looking for a better trading platform, and advice here?

Thanks

I have been trialling the demo account for about 2 weeks now and have traded successfully but all the above have been noticed......slippage from quote price to fill price.....quote price different from MT4 real time price......slow profit/loss display relevant to the movement of the market and sometimes stops activated when market no where near stop. I think all this reflects a trading platform where etoro can see all the bid/offers on the table and they are placed between me the trader and the true interbank bid/offer markets. I believe they take the otherside of my trade....so i am effectively betting against the broker. I have read a lot about brokers and the danger to retail traders like me of brokers offering their own trading platforms as opposed to me having true ECN access to the interbank market. Google....bucket shop forex brokers!

ECN brokers are the way to go......even tho you will pay commission. Works out at about 1.5 pips a trade......but i prefer that as the playing field is level!!! Good luck

I sent an e-mail about this problem and basically I was told too bad. I told them that when I click the button and the screen disappeared then I should receive what I click. Then all of a sudden I'm 3-5 pips in the difference. I watched it happen over 25 times and the response was that the market is volatile. It seems like you have to have a set profit on exactly when the trade wants to close or else expect a 3-5 pip difference when you close the trade.

I would like to see something resolved because I feel like I'm being quietly ripped off.

friends,
actually i have noticed this problem long back even in EURO 1 pip difference can be noticed then the actual market price u can compare it with any other platform, and specially while buying and selling this problem is witnesed this is really getting over my nerves, etoro must give a proper explaination about this matter.market volatility is not a proper reply to this serios issue, forex is always suppose to be volatile.after all its the world biggest financial market.
Dont forget to help those who cant help themself...God Bless
